Operating straight out of Poland, New Moon Recordings have steadily pieced together an eclectic discography that has firmly highlighted them as one of the most exciting labels on the Dubstep landscape. Delivering 5 releases of pure sub-sonic force with class from production talent including Phaeleh, Killawatt, Biome, Thelem, Indigo and Hatti Vatti, quality control measures are high and the beats are uncompromising. With a blistering standard set, for their 6th release they look to Kiwi upstarts Perverse to keep the momentum rolling with their dark, visceral interpretations of Dubstep’s foundational sound. Three tracks feature to form a triple headed monster and they come well supported by Youngsta and a whole host of the scene’s most discerning DJs. The lead track ‘Echolocation’ is most certainly one for the skankers as Perverse kick off proceedings by alternating rolling tribal styled bongo patters with fierce Reece mutations and rigid kick snare combinations that swing the groove back and forth across a chilling backdrop. The flipside ‘Tempest’ conjures an undulating pulse of seismic sub-bass that lurks beneath minimal halfstepping drum patterns and ambient harmonies that bristle uneasily with sinister sound design. In a change of pace, the digital bonus track ‘Somber’, injects vividly introspective melancholic soul best suited for the post-rave aftermath, rounding off a killer release that further demonstrates their degree of accomplishment and scope as musicians.
